Beware, July 1, 2008

I used one of these for a year in Iraq and never had a problem with it, however when I purchased one to use in the States, I was very disappointed. I needed it to power a 230 volt air conditioner that draws a max of 1800 watts. Even though this transformer is rated at 3000 watts, the circuit breaker would trip every time I tried to use the air conditioner. I spoke with the customer service at VTC Electronics and was told that not only did I need a 5000 watt transformer but that this one is not the right phase to use in the States. The customer service representative was very rude and condescending. She said that I should have known that information about the transformer before buying it, even though that information is not available on either the Amazon site or the VTC Electronics website. And since this product was shipped from VTC Electronics and not from Amazon, I would have to pay the shipping (about $25) if I wanted to return it. Overall, a very bad experience and I don't plan to ever buy another product from VTC Electronics. Poor Product, October 7, 2011

Arrived in pieces, meter was knocked out of the window, the on-off switch was not in place and the bracket to hold it was broken, the euro shock plug prongs were broken off, rating would be a zero if possible. In the process of returning and not seeking a replacement for this piece of junk. Amazingly enough it was packaged a box within a box, the outer box was fine, the inner box was torn apart. Looked like it shipped in this condition. I also ordered a 1000 watt at the same time, it arrived a day earlier, in working condition.Would not suggest to anyone that this product be purchased, I should have known better with all the other reviews stating arrival condition, it looks like the returns are repackaged and resent.
Really a cheap product, Heavy Duty is a laugher.
